My musical journey started when I picked up the guitar at age seven, and I’ve never looked back. Early on, I was deeply influenced by progressive rock and fusion bands like Genesis, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, and ELP, not to mention my admiration for Frank Zappa, with whom I had the chance to play in 1978. I also listened to a lot of Southern rock, blues, and metal, drawing inspiration from artists like Duane Allman and Black Sabbath. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, I got serious about music and studied at the Dick Grove School in Los Angeles, where I honed my skills in composing and arranging under the guidance of Dick Grove. My passion for Latin music led me to Cuba in 1994, where I immersed myself in its rich musical culture and forged lifelong connections with some of Cuba’s legendary musicians. Over the years, I’ve continued to grow and evolve, blending all of these influences into my music and recording with some of the best in the business.
